Real World Examples of LibGuides

We gave librarians a powerful, yet easy to use, online publishing tool and a great thing happened - they started creating some of the most useful content found anyhwere on the Internet. LibGuides is an ideal tool for librarians to share knowledge publish useful information. The system is open and flexible, enabling librarians to pull and organize any type of multimedia and dynamic content, including videos, rss feeds, podcasts, database search scripts, etc.

Check out some real-world LibGuides examples:

  • History Research @ Acadia. Research guide for History, combining RSS feeds, library resources, database search, websites, as well as online chat with the History subject specialist - all presented in one place, as a starting point for students' research. Great stuff!
  • Resources for CRJU 1310 @ Cedarville. Library resources for a Criminal Justice course. Cedarville University Library uses LibGuides to compile and present resources for specific courses - a great way to highlight library resources relevant to students in specific courses.
  • Psychology Research @ Univ. of South Carolina. A great collection of resources for anyone interested in researching topics in Psychology. Great job, Beki!

  • Film & Media Arts @ Temple. Wow! So much great information - LibGuides at its best. As you browse the tabs, note that it is possible to embed search boxes for databases specific to your institution.
  • Library guide for International Students @ DePauw. Great use of LibGuides to share useful library information other than typical subject guides.
  • Dynamic content in LibGuides. You can display del.icio.us tag clouds like in this Chemistry Guide, or database search and catalog search like in this Languages & Literatures Research Guide (scroll to the bottom of the page to see the search boxes).
  • Education Research @ Temple. Great use of customized search boxes for various institution-specific databases.
  • Nursing Research @ KVIC. RSS feeds, videos, custom database search... so much useful information about Nursing research. All in one place and looking pretty. How cool is that?!
  • Business Research @ Dalhousie. A very comprehensive guide to library resources related to Business. An indispensable resource for all Dalhousie business students.

  • The Research & Information Center @ BCLS. We couldn't pick just one guide from this public library LibGuides system so we are showcasing the whole system.
