Academic libraries use LibGuides to create and maintain subject guides, course guides, research information, etc. (for example, see Cornell, UT Tyler, or DePauw). Some university libraries even use LibGuides to create and maintain their library website (Scottsdale CC Library, or Walters State CC Library). Many libraries also license multiple LibGuides systems and use them to communicate both with patrons and as an internal staff communication, professional development, and collaboration tool.
Public libraries use LibGuides to create subject guides and informational websites on various topics of interest to their community. A great example is the "Explore" website at the Burlington County Public Libraries (NJ) - http://explore.bcls.lib.nj.us, with so much useful information for patrons of all ages and interest groups.
LibGuides is an ideal solution for Special libraries to easily create, publish, and maintain useful guides and content for their colleagues and/or clients. For example, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and NASA Glenn Space Center use LibGuides to connect with clients and help them with their research.
For busy and/or understaffed school librarians LibGuides is a great tool to publish useful information, topic guides, and homework help for students. The librarians at Northfield Mount Hermon school did just that. In addition, with over 1,500 universities using LibGuides, introducing the system at your school library is a great way to prepare your students for using the tool they will most likely find in their college library as well.
